Whitney Santamaria, Filipino-American born and raised in beautiful Colorado, started as a self-taught artist and continued on to pursue a formal education in the arts at Metropolitan State University of Denver. There she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in jewelry and metalsmithing. She dabbles in arts of many mediums but she primarily works with three dimensional materials and will often times simply work with what is around her. Taking pride in handcrafting each piece, her works are playful, thoughtful, and striking. Inspiration comes to her in many forms, at times coming from everyday experiences and transforming them into insightful life lessons, and other times the work seems to apper fully formed in her head, saying, “Here I am, make me!” She strives to continually make art that speaks from her soul and express her inner creativity.
